Call for Papers

Workshop call for papers

5G mobile communication system is expected to be an important connecting infrastructure for information and knowledge exchange among people, machine, sensors, devices, and even environments. 5G standards are being made to satisfy performance requirements that are defined in ITU-R documents. Simulators play an important role in evaluating performance of wireless communications systems as well as individual technique. There exist key performance indicators in 5G mobile communications, which includes peak and average data rate, mobility, energy efficiency, spectral efficiency, latency, connection density, etc. These performance metrics needs to be evaluated by simulators.

In general, there are three different levels in simulators: link-level, system-level, and network-level. Link-level simulator is used to evaluate performances of the point-to-point physical layer technologies, while system-level simulator is used to evaluate performance point-to-multipoint (downlink) or multipoint-to-point (uplink) cellular network when there exist multiple cells in a network. The system-level simulator exploits the results of link-level simulator for obtaining the system-level performance. The network-level simulator is used to evaluate end-to-end performance of mobile communication systems, which includes wired network between wireless access networks.

Through 5G Simulators and Testbedsworkshop, participants of conference can share latest research insights and implementation experiences on 5G simulators and testbeds.

Topics of interest include (but not limited to):

  • 5G/beyond 5G wireless channel simulator
  • 5G link/system/network-level simulator
  • 5G performance evaluation methodologies
  • Hardware-in-the-loop simulator
  • 5G-related testbeds (mmWave, massive MIMO, full-duplex, etc)
  • Performance evaluation methodologies and metrics for beyond 5G
  • Etc
